NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as
defined in The
Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.3 If there is a conflict between languages the English text
will take precedence.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Classic Boats as
defined as per ISAF as follows:
A Classic Boat is a yacht launched before December 31st 1963 or a
replica of a Classic Boat that independent of her launch date was built
in conformity with the design of a Classic Boat launched before
December 31st 1963.
2.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and
sending it, together with the required fee, to Sailing Office at the
Chester Yacht Club or giving it to the Chester Classic Boat Association
prior to racing on August 10th 2012
3 FEES
3.1 Required fees are as follows:

4 SCHEDULE
4.1 Dates of racing:

4.2 The scheduled time of the warning signal for all races is
1300 hours.
5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available by
Thursday August 9th
, 2012 from the Sailing Office at the Chester Yacht Club or from the
host club’s website.
6 THE COURSES
Courses will consist of Government Marks and Chester Yacht Club
Marks situated in Mahone Bay
7 PENALTY SYSTEM
7.1.2 For the Classic Boats rule 44.1 is changed so that the
Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.
7.2 Protest filing time limit will be 60 minutes after the signal boat
docks.
7.3 Protest forms will be available at the Chester Yacht Club.
8 SCORING
8.1 The scoring system is as follows: the Low Point scoring
system of
RRS Appendix A shall be used with no score excluded.
8.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
9 RADIO COMMUNICATION
9.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make
radio
transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not
available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile
telephones. Official boats will monitor VHF channel 73.
9.2 If any part of a boat’s hull, crew or equipment is on the
course side of the starting line during the two minutes before her
starting signal and she is identified, the race committee will attempt
to broadcast her sail number on VHF channel 73. Failure to make a
broadcast or to time it accurately will not be grounds for a request
for redress. This changes rule 62.1(a).
10 PRIZES
Prizes will be given as follows: the Classic Cup will
be awarded
to first place overall for the Classic Cup Regatta. A Trophy called the
“Classics Gold Cup” will be given at the end of Chester Race Week to
the overall winner of the combined Classic Cup Regatta and Chester Race
Week Classic’s Division. This will consist of 7 races in total with 1
drop if more than 5 races sailed.
11 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at
their own
risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not
accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death
sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
12 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid
third-party
liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per event or the
equivalent. Proof of insurance should be supplied with entry.
