The
annual Martins River Fun
Race hosted by Chip Dickison was well attended by classic boats. CC
boats finishing no 1 was Skierkert skippered by Uwe Wittkugel; No 2
Seneca skippered by David Creighton; no 4 Rondo skippered by Dayna
Nelder; no 6 Virginia skippered by John Wurts. Chip
told me that this was the largest number of boats on the starting line
ever even without the IODs which were racing their international
championship in Chester. |

FYI
Club HandicapperI received the attached news letter from IPYC IPYC welcomes Paul Bezanson as club handicapper. The club handicapper aids members of the club that want PHRF handicaps for racing their sailboats (you need a handicap to race in 99% of the races in Nova Scotia). He explains what sails/equipment must be declared by the member to legally race and have a handicap. He also attends the monthly meeting of club handicappers in Nova Scotia and recommend to the rest of the committee what handicap the members boat should have and normally the handicappers recommendation is accepted. In an emergency on short notice a club handicapper is allowed to set a provisional handicap for a boat in his club to allow the boat to compete legally. The handicaps given are based on the performance of same designed boats that are raced throughout North America. Applying for your handicap As a member of the yacht club, you are a member of Sail Canada and able to get an official PHRF handicap from Sail Nova Scotia http://www.sailnovascotia.ca/phrf-ns-ratings-of-yachts.html Select "Add Yacht" and fill in the information. Choose IPYC from the drop down menu for your member club. New membership year has started If you have not yet paid your membership for 2014, its time to do so. You can go on line to http://indianpointyachtclub.wordpress.com/become-a-member/ and either download the application, fill it in and send a check, or you can fill in the on-line application and then use your credit card with the PayPal service. If these options to not appeal to you, drop by Mahone Marine and Zack or Jennifer can accept your credit card payment. Thankyou! IOD series set to begin The Indian Point International One Design is scheduled to start on the May long weekend. Organizers will be checking the weather to decide the optimum day.
